Today (6 February, 2024), the French Senate discusses a Draft to reform the Group action’s regime. It intends to implement the Representative actions Directive for the protection of the collective interest of consumers and to amend the current rules which are far from being conclusive and spread in various texts (Laws and Codes).
The Observatory of Class actions (and other forms of Collective redress) considers the current draft constitutes a step back, when compared to the draft version approved by the French Assembly in March 2023 and to the European developments. It hopes the debates will, at least, lead to the developments of the previous version of the draft.
