Alon Klement
I am a Professor of Law at the Buchmann Faculty of Law, Tel-Aviv University. My main interests are Class actions and Aggregate litigation, Civil Procedure and Private International Law. I have written numerous papers, in English and Hebrew, using economic theory to examine fundamental questions in these topics. My papers have been published in many journals including Stanford Law Review, California Law Review, Texas Law Review, Journal of Legal Studies, Journal of Empirical Legal Studies, and Journal of Law, Economics and Organization.
I earned my LLB in Law and B.A. in Economics from Tel Aviv University, as part of the Disciplinary Program for Outstanding Students. I then practiced law for few years, and later completed my Doctorate (SJD) at Harvard Law school. When I returned to Israel I have taught for fifteen years at the Reichman University, and then moved to Tel Aviv. I have taught in many schools around the world, including Columbia, Boston, Austin, Georgetown, Cornell, Bologna, Lion and Vienna.
I have served as an academic advisor to special committees on Israeli Class Action Law, both in 2006 and in 2021-2022. I have founded the Class Action Clinic, and also served as the director of the Cegla Center for Interdisciplinary Research of the Law and Chief Editor of Theoretical Inquiries in Law.
